Bulgaria is working hard to increase the number of golf courses within Bulgaria. Three presently exist near Sofia and have drawn in many golfers. As foreigners continually desire quality golf courses, Bulgaria realizes that brand new golf courses will bring in additional tourism. While some are currently undergoing construction, a few have completed the construction process. Razgrad, in the north, is home to an elaborate new course. Kavarna and Promorsko are also slated to open golf courses.

In the mountains near Basko, a popular ski resort is building a large golf course. This will enable the resort to draw in tourists year-round for both skiing in the winter and golf in the remaining months.

By late 2007, a large golf course will have opened in Dolna Banya. With the advent of Bulgaria’s union into the EU, tourism is expected to increase drawing a need to expand and add to Dolna Banya’s existing tourist and sporting establishments.

Hence, for those who are keen on golf and have an interest in investment opportunities, it is advisable to watch those developments closely. The variety of scenery and locations and the many days of sunny weather over the year are suitable for golf in Bulgaria, which will make investment and golf successful.

There are some Estate Agencies in golf areas that have purchased much of the key acreage dedicated to commercial development. These Estate Agencies are going to focus on selling this land to developers who will focus on building suitable apartments, businesses, and more. Currently, one project is awaiting approval. This project will include a huge recreation centre near the golf course that will be connected by a footpath. The recreation centre is scheduled to include tennis courts, volleyball courts, squash courts, badminton courts, lawn bowling, bocce balls, croquet, shooting ranges, archery ranges, mountain biking trails, and fishing.

Some luxurious indoor facilities are planned as well. Among the expected offerings are:

  • A large restaurant with a cabaret that should seat around 150 patrons.
  • A sports bar with at least one big-screen television, pool tables, snooker, table tennis, and foosball.
  • A smaller Chinese restaurant.
